Stirling is a South Coast One Design (SCOD), a classic wooden yacht She is regularly sailed in and around The Solent and participates in many racing regatta in Cowes. Stirling has had some excellent results in the past and this year in RTI 2010 race coming 3rd in Class and 4th overall in the ISC class.
This year we shall be racing her for the 10th time in Cowes Week.
If you are staying in Cowes why not join us for some sailing or racing experience. If you are new to sailing and seeking some racing experience or just want to go for a fun sail this much admired little yacht will be great fun. Its not your normal large glass-fibre or high-tech boat but a traditional cosy and seaworthy yacht. The South Coast One Design (SCOD) is a 25ft 11in (7.9m) long-keeled cruiser/racer designed by the late Charles Nicholson in 1955.
106 SCODs were built up until 1970 by a variety of builders including: Burnes, Clare Lallow, Camper & Nicholson, Woodnutts and WA Souter, the majority of these are still in use today and have ranged as far as the Americas and Australia.Stirling is the 104th SCOD built at Burns in 1969.The SCOD was originally designed as a one design cruiser racer and is a tough and powerful yacht capable of long passages,but also a practical family cruiser with excellent sailing performance.
Stirling is berthed at Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club marina 100 yards from Beam Reach.
Mahogany on oak. Long keeled classic sloop with transom hung rudder. Spruce mast.
Engine with Shaft drive and 2 bladed prop.
12v system, 1 x domestic battery, 1 x engine battery.

Mainsail, no1 genoa, no2 genoa. Storm jib and 1 x spinnaker.
4 berths in 2 cabins. Front cabin sleeps two but there is an infill panel to create a double bunk if required. There are 2 further single bunks in the main saloon cabin.All recent very comfortable mattresses.
In the main cabin there is 5’11" headroom .Original Baby Blake toilet is located amidships to starboard and a large hanging locker to port where mooring lines, anchors and other necessary
equipment is stored.
2 x single individual stowaway butane gas stove on gimballed unit.
Sink and drainer under chart table.
Good galley arrangement with plenty of storage and all equipment for cooking/eating and relaxing on board. Classic easily stowaway dining table in saloon cabin. Plenty of lights off domestic battery and there are two brass oil lamps.
